A Chance Encounter in Krabi

It all started with Barbara. With a chance encounter at the bustling Pirates House Bar in Krabi, Thailand. We met Barbara, a spirited retired teacher from New Zealand, who had bought into Cambodia's charm, inexpensive life and decided to make it her new home for retirement.

A Costly Travel Mishap

Over Gin and Tonic, Barbara shared a travel mishap that had hit her hard. A European vacation had turned into a financial nightmare when she was slapped with a massive roaming bill from her New Zealand SIM card provider, wiping out a large chunk of her savings. This experience made her very cautious about staying connected while abroad.

A Common Pain Point

It turns out Barbara isn’t the only one facing this issue – bill shock is a common problem for fellow travellers and expats. Her story got us thinking: there had to be a better way for Barbara to stay connected without the fear of bill shock, the inconvenience of physical SIM cards, or the exorbitant prices of data plans being sold at airports.
